Dr. Tahmeena Ali
Dr. Ali started her medical education in Edmonton, AB at U of A. Moved to Winnipeg, MB after her marriage, and continued at the U of M. Moved back to Alberta to start her practice. And has now finally settled in South Surrey.
Dr. Tahmeena Ali’s son labels her an above average “jack of all trades.” Her University of Manitoba degree calls it a Doctor of Medicine. Her University of Alberta certificate calls it a residency in family medicine. Dr. Ali believes that continuously learning and applying new concepts is the most exciting part of her work as a full-service family physician; UBC faculty member; child and youth mental health advocate and Provincial medical leader.
Her enthusiasm and drive were recognized in 2012 when she was awarded Preceptor of the Year by the Medical Student Association at the University of Alberta and in 2020 when she was awarded family physician of the year by the British Columbia College of Family Physicians. She was instrumental in establishing a multi-disciplinary team that assists school counsellors manage students with challenging behaviours— a team nominated for a Provincial award in healthcare innovation.
She also holds a creative writing certificate from Simon Fraser University which helps her frame her clinical encounters with a narrative slant. Her most rewarding work is nurturing her three children and date nights with her husband.
